Senior Project Manager (Facilities)

Modern Construction Services is a fast-growing, certified WBENC women-owned commercial construction and facilities maintenance company based in Charlotte, NC. We are hiring a hands-on leader to run renovations, retrofits, and multi-trade projects on the general contractor side and coach a small team of specialists.

About the role

This is a general contractor-side role, not an owner-side facilities job. You will lead a team of three to five Project Specialists, step in when projects go sideways, and own GC-side execution on facility upgrades across the US.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach a team of Project Specialists who manage contractor-side execution.
• Own GC-side execution on renovations, retrofits, and facility upgrades: review estimates and scopes, sequence the trades, and manage subcontractors and field personnel.
• Travel to job sites across the US to validate work, resolve field-level issues, and keep multi-trade projects on schedule.
• Qualify subcontractor estimates and validate scopes to catch problems before they reach the field.
• Partner with Safety and Compliance to maintain OSHA-compliant, safe job sites.
• Track KPIs, tighten workflows, and keep data clean across platforms like Fexa, Avetta, Corrigo, and Coupa.

Requirements

• Five or more years of facilities project management on the contractor side (general contractor experience required; owner-side or client-side experience is not a fit).
• Two or more years supervising project teams.
• Experience managing $1 million to $3 million construction projects.
• Hands-on trade knowledge, with electrical or HVAC preferred.
• Strong grasp of GC workflows, estimating, and sequencing, plus experience managing subcontractors and field personnel.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, execution-heavy environment; ideally you have run projects end-to-end or run your own construction business.
• Preferred: PMP or equivalent certification, OSHA 10 (minimum), and CMMS experience (Fexa, ServiceChannel, Corrigo, Coupa, Procore).

• Your background is owner-side, client-side, or provider-perspective facilities management.
• You prefer capital planning, asset-lifecycle strategy, or preventive-maintenance programs over hands-on execution.
• You would rather lead from a desk than be out at job sites.
• You would rather run a single project than a team carrying several at once.

Pay

• Base salary: up to $95,000 depending on experience.
• On-target earnings: $175,000 or more, with real upside for strong performers.
• Quarterly bonuses tied to individual and team performance.
• Annual company performance bonus.

Schedule

Full-time, on-site in Charlotte, NC with hybrid flexibility after 6 months and regular travel to job sites across the US.
