Senior Project Manager/Architect

About the role

As a Senior Architect/Project Manager in the Mission Critical sector at EXP’s Atlanta office, you will lead projects from conceptual design through construction, acting as the primary client contact and overseeing both in-house teams and external subconsultants. You’ll ensure designs meet building codes and ADA requirements, coordinate technical details across disciplines, and travel to client sites across the U.S. for surveys and meetings. This role balances client expectations, project deadlines, and team leadership while advancing EXP’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate design and technical teams from Conceptual Design through Construction Documents and Construction Phase.
• Serve as the primary client point of contact.
• Collaborate with Program Managers and Project Managers to establish project schedules.
• Manage in-house teams and external subconsultants across multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ensure technical coordination with all disciplines, maintaining design integrity and technical precision.
• Develop design documents and participate in client presentations.
• Travel to client sites for surveys or meetings.
• Verify designs comply with building codes and ADA requirements.
• Oversee bid and construction phase activities, both in-office and in the field.
• Act as a technical resource for project teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
• Licensed Architect.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in architectural practice.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit preferred.
• Working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and SketchUp.
• Detailed knowledge of design development, construction documents, specifications, building materials, cost coordination, and building codes.
• Experience in construction administration.
• Ability to balance client and project manager expectations while meeting deadlines.
• Strong team leadership skills across multiple disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with mission critical projects.
