Responsibilities
- Building solid relationships with Energy, Institutional, Industrial, and Manufacturing clients and internal clients within GAI’s Business Sectors.
- Leading business development pursuits, developing statements of qualifications and proposed project scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and fees.
- Developing a solid understanding of and marketing the services GAI performs.
- Providing design, management, and technical direction and oversight associated with on multi-discipline design and construction projects.
- Facilitating client team meetings, including recording and publishing meeting notes.
- Aiding teams of engineers in developing the project-specific scope of work documents.
- Aiding with and coordinating teams of engineers reviewing design submittals.
- Applying thorough broad-based knowledge of electric utility projects.
- Demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborating with internal and client subject matter experts to continuously improve the documents.
- Keeping informed of new methods and developments affecting the organization and recommending new practices or changes in emphasis of programs.
- Aiding in quality control and quality assurance of active projects, providing peer reviews and training of engineers and designers in quality control processes.
- Maintaining processes for document control.
- Mentoring engineers and staff providing training assistance.
- Managing assigned projects, including responsibility for delivering scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profitability.
- Coeordinating and developing proposed scope, schedule, and fee for projects managed.
- Demonstrating proficiency of fundamental project management skills and use of project management techniques and practices to increase productivity, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Working closely with Project Controls/Accounting staff to monitor and control project cost and billings to meet budget profit, analyzing project performance data on an ongoing basis, and developing recovery plans as needed.
- Serving as primary client contact for projects managed and actively winning new work from both new and existing clients by building and maintaining customer relationships, monitoring future work opportunities, and communicating regularly.
- Establishing and refining engineering processes and standard operating procedures that enhance team performance, alignment, and delivery predictability.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 18 years of total engineering or technical experience, with at least 10 of those years serving as a Project Manager leading and directing projects or portfolios, preferably with an engineering consulting organization or similar professional.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering or applicable technical discipline as required. Advanced technical degree or MBA is strongly preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred or desire to obtain.
- Mastery of fundamental project management financial concepts, including developing pricing, cost budget monitoring, calculating profit, etc.
- In-depth understanding of software as needed to successfully perform the duties described here, including MS Office Suite applications and software, CAD programs, document management systems, database software, HR Systems, internet software, and reporting tools related to databases.
- Experience with Deltek for Professional Services as a Project Management / Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Platform, including Client Relationship Management applications is preferred.
