About the role

The Senior Program Assistant supports the Senior Program Manager in delivering EDMO programs. Key responsibilities include stepping into the Program Manager role when needed, managing daily operations, supervising staff, interacting with students and parents, and collaborating with the Senior Program Manager to plan and implement culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate activities.

Responsibilities

  • Site Management: Regularly step in and oversee the site when the Senior Program Manager travels to other sites.
  • Program Support: Manage daily activities such as snack time, outdoor play, homework help, SEL, and STEAM activities.
  • Staff Supervision: Provide leadership and support to staff, including mentoring and training new hires.
  • Student Interaction: Observe and assess student behavior, applying behavioral intervention techniques.
  • Parent Communication: Serve as a point of contact for parents, addressing concerns and providing updates.
  • Relationships: Maintain positive relationships with site staff and adhere to site specifications.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative duties, including maintaining attendance records and managing site inventory.
  • Program Implementation: Collaborate with the Senior Program Manager to plan and implement culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Safety and Cleanliness: Ensure program standards are met, including safety protocols and cleanliness.
  • Meeting Participation: Attend and contribute to staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by anticipating and addressing issues involving children, staff, and parents.
  • Professional Development: Participate in all program training and in-season meetings.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, stepping into the Program Manager role as necessary.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field. Relevant experience is preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in after-school programs or a similar educational setting. Experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis, and meet other physical requirements listed.
  • Certifications: CPR/First Aid Certification required by the start date.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge: Previous experience in SEL and STEAM learning methodology.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attitude: Creative, patient, positive, and willing to problem-solve.
  • Responsibility: High sense of responsibility and dependability.
  • Flexibility: Patience, adaptability, and teamwork skills.

Pay

This is a non-exempt position working 30 hours/week. The hourly wage rate will be commensurate with experience and location. The hourly pay range for this position is $29-$30/hr depending on experience and location.
