Senior Product Design Manager, Buyer Desktop and Mobile Web

About the role

The Senior Product Design Manager for Buyer Web leads the design strategy and execution for Etsy’s desktop and mobile web experiences. This role crafts how buyers discover, evaluate, and purchase unique items, ensuring the shopping journey is intuitive, cohesive, and high-performing across platforms.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive initiative-level design strategies across desktop and mobile web, anticipating platform tradeoffs, technical constraints, and performance considerations while ensuring cohesive buyer experiences.
• Navigate evolving architecture, responsive systems, and shifting priorities. Frame ambiguous problem spaces into clear opportunities grounded in user insights and business goals.
• Grow and support your team by coaching designers through complex initiatives and platform migrations. Develop a high-trust, inclusive environment with clear expectations around quality, accessibility, craft excellence, and performance-oriented design.
• Promote craft and systems thinking by partnering with Brand and Design Systems to ensure web components are accessible, performant, and scalable across the buyer lifecycle. Drive consistency while enabling innovation.
• Collaborate strategically with Product, Engineering, and Research leadership to translate technical considerations into actionable design direction and long-term roadmap alignment.
• Drive measurable impact by using qualitative and quantitative insights to improve buyer confidence, conversion, engagement, and overall marketplace performance.

• Experience mentoring and developing designers, setting clear performance expectations, and supporting continuous growth.
• A strong understanding of accessibility, performance, and scalable design systems in web environments.
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to align senior stakeholders around tradeoffs and long-term vision.
