About the role
As a Senior Producer, you'll play a crucial role in the newsroom by making editorial decisions, fact-checking scripts, and creating show rundowns. You will use data to inform these decisions and determine the news stories that will air each day. Along with your editorial duties, you will serve as the heart of the newsroom—leadership, inspiration, and feedback will be important aspects of your role.
Spectrum News is made up of over 30 hyper-local news and regional sports networks dedicated to producing original, unbiased, and high-quality content. We use innovative journalistic approaches, backed by comprehensive research, to engage and inform viewers on essential news, issues, and events in their communities. Our newsrooms publish via TV, the Spectrum News app, and connected television, providing 24-hour news access.

Responsibilities
- Make editorial decisions and determine daily news stories
- Fact-check scripts and create show rundowns

Requirements
- 4+ years of television news producing experience
- 3+ years of line producing experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field, or comparable television work experience
- Strong attention to detail and passion for news
- Ability to lift up to 5 pounds
- Willingness to work various shifts, including longer shifts, weekends, holidays, and flexible schedule changes due to breaking news or severe weather emergencies
Skills
- Knowledge of current events and local market trends
- Familiarity with industry standards and practices
- Strong editorial and leadership abilities
Working Conditions
- Primarily works inside a climate-controlled environment but may occasionally perform field duties
- Semi-noisy newsroom environment
Pay
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $81,800.00 and $157,200.00. The actual compensation offered will consider factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Certain positions may also be eligible for bonuses or other incentive-based compensation.
