About the role
Spectrum News is a network of over 30 hyper-local news and regional sports networks. We produce original, unbiased, and high-quality content using innovative journalistic approaches and comprehensive research. We distribute news through TV, the Spectrum News app, and connected television, offering 24-hour news coverage.
Responsibilities
- Drive local news coverage and determine the most important stories
- Collaborate with colleagues to tell impactful stories that inspire and delight viewers
- Create compelling newscasts that attract and hold audiences' attention
- Develop an in-depth understanding of local and breaking news
- Transform pitches into engaging stories that resonate with viewers
Requirements
- Experience: 2+ years in television news
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of social media platforms and basic editing skills (Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro)
- Skills: Go-getter personality, excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Travel Ability: Open to travel to cover important stories in various neighborhoods
- Working Conditions: Works primarily inside a climate-controlled environment, occasionally assigned field duties
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of general office computer software, newsroom software, and basic non-linear editing systems
- May be required to lift up to five pounds
- Ability to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes
Benefits
We offer a comprehensive pay and benefits package that includes competitive compensation, a range of incentives, and support for all aspects of employees' well-being. The base pay for this position generally is between $55,000.00 and $105,400.00, with additional forms of compensation available based on performance and qualifications.
Pay
The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
