About the Role

This position supports the Director of Contract Excellence and Sourcing Operations in day-to-day execution of the contracting process and its continuous improvement through simplification and automation. It also provides general support of the broader Contract-to-Pay process including risk-based channel strategies aligned with category strategies. The role manages stakeholder relationships and works to elevate stakeholder experience. The role also works closely with contracting subject matter experts and SOP owners in NNI and Novo Nordisk A/S. In addition, the position provides supervision and guidance to members of the Contract Excellence team.

Relationships

  • Reports to the Director of Contract Excellence and Sourcing Operations.
  • Will interact with other Procurement leaders, locally and globally.
  • Has extensive interaction with all Line of Business (LOB) customer areas.
  • Develops a deep and collaborative relationship with key stakeholders and senior management within Finance, Legal, IT, Quality, Compliance, and Product Safety.
  • Leads an Operations team comprising up to 4 members.

Responsibilities

  • Contracting and Continuous Improvement:
    • Collaborates with the Operations Leader on the delivery of the vision, strategic priorities, and roadmap for contracting.
    • Supervises day-to-day contracting process execution based on KPIs including cycle time, AI adoption, business partnering, and productivity of team members.
    • Negotiates urgent or complex contracts with counterparties.
    • Identifies and drives continuous improvement in process. Utilizes data to make decisions on process improvements, measure process performance, etc.
    • Provides general support of the broader Contract-to-Pay process, such as executing a risk-based channel strategy aligned with category strategies.
  • Team Supervision:
    • Drives accountability on KPIs of cycle time, volume throughput, AI adoption.
    • Provides guidance on issue management.
    • Ensures team engagement and morale.
    • Establishes a learning culture and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Business Partnering and User Experience:
    • Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with stakeholders, including providing strategic advice, updates and reports, and gathering feedback.
    • Ensures the development, delivery, and storage of high-quality communication and training resources related to policy, processes, technology, tools, and other process matters.
    • Closely collaborates with BI on data quality, dashboards, and insights.
    • Closely collaborates with Digital on digital transformation projects.
    • Closely collaborates with Global System teams on platform feature enhancements, version releases, etc.
    • Facilitates organization change management for changes in policy, process, platform.
  • Contracting Technology Adoption:
    • Adopts new technology such as AI-assisted redlining, AI-enabled contracting and leads through example.
    • Identifies opportunities to improve processes based on technology, and to leverage technology to enable better process.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible, relevant experience required with at least 7 years in procurement source to pay process management, with specific emphasis in contracting.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in contract redlining and negotiation with counterparties.
  • Knowledge and experience in world-class Contract Lifecycle Management systems such as Coupa, Ironclad, etc. Familiarity with broader source to pay platforms is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of people leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience as a valued advisor and partner to stakeholders by providing influential counsel and guidance.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and communicating complex problem statements and recommendations to gain stakeholder endorsement.
  • Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, execute, and follow-up in a timely manner and anticipate problems and roadblocks to avoid crisis management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Knows how to get things done both through formal and informal channels.
  • Advanced MS PowerPoint/MS Excel required.
  • Pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

0-10% overnight travel required.

Pay

The base compensation range for this position is $120,300 to $222,600. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance. Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and/or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
