Senior Process Development Engineer - Extrusions

About the role

The primary purpose of this position is to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. You will ensure that Integer internal and external customers' expectations are met or exceeded. Collaborate with project teams comprising customers, Product Development, Operations and Quality associates to establish extrusion tooling and equipment requirements, processing parameters, and material requirements. Develop, characterize and validate the extrusion process required to meet extruded part specifications. Provide technical expertise and extrusion processing guidance to R&D and Production Operations to support development projects and commercial operations. Responsible for extrusion tooling and equipment development, commissioning and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded
  • Collaborate with project teams to establish extrusion tooling and equipment requirements
  • Develop, characterize, and validate extrusion processes
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to R&D and Production Operations
  • Develop and qualify extrusion tooling and equipment
  • Adhere to Integer's Values and safety, environmental, security, and quality requirements
  • Investigate and interpret technology and business trends and recommend best practices
  • Evaluate, develop, and implement new technologies
  • Lead cross-functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with individuals and business units within or outside the organization
  • Deploy expertise across multiple organizations and/or locations
  • Plan and develop engineering projects concerned with unique or high-profile problems
  • Develop manufacturing methods using standard extrusion equipment
  • Support Integer’s Manufacturing Excellence and Market Focused Innovation Strategies
  • Champion the development and deployment of systems and tools to drive innovation and continuous improvement
  • Lead team activities and act as a coach for other less experienced associates
  • Communicate clearly and professionally to all levels of the organization
  • Maintain a calm demeanor in a high-energy, constantly changing production environment
  • Possess a positive, can-do attitude with an underlying belief that failure is not an option

Requirements

  • Earned as a minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or related technical field
  • Preferably, earned a Master’s Degree or a Doctorate
  • Experience producing single lumen, multi-lumen, and vacuum sized polymer tubing
  • Strong technical and problem-solving foundation, preferably with training and certifications in methodologies such as 6-Sigma, 8D, RCA, 5-Why, Ishikawa (Fish Bone), Kepner-Tregoe, PMP
  • Ability to observe, analyze, and develop solutions to complex technical challenges
  • Independent and collaborative working abilities
  • Clear and professional communication skills

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive engineering and/or technically focused roles and experiences
  • Experience with 6-Sigma (green belt as a minimum, black belt preferred)
  • Experience with 8D, RCA, 5-Why, Ishikawa (Fish Bone), Kepner-Tregoe, PMP
  • Experience deploying 6-Sigma principles and methodologies
  • Experience leading team activities and coaching less experienced associates
  • Experience communicating clearly and professionally to all levels of the organization
  • Experience maintaining a calm demeanor in a high-energy, constantly changing production environment
  • Experience possessing a positive, can-do attitude with an underlying belief that failure is not an option

Benefits

Our compensation program includes base salary and a cash-based incentive program supporting our pay-for-performance philosophy. We provide a comprehensive benefits package with immediate eligibility including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and adoption benefits. Parental leave is available after one year. Optional employee-paid programs include supplemental life insurance, critical illness, hospital indemnity and accident insurance. Employees are immediately eligible to participate in the 401(k) plan with company matching contributions. We provide 80 hours (10 days) of company designated holidays per year plus an annual allotment of paid time off.
