Senior Engineering Technician - Extrusions

About the role

The Senior Engineering Technician – Extrusions provides technical support to cross-functional teams to characterize and develop new technology platforms and processes. Reporting to the Principal Extrusion Engineer, you will work closely with engineers to run extrusion processes, set up and operate extrusion equipment, troubleshoot issues, and maintain a clean and organized work area. This position is located at the Fridley, MN site with occasional travel to the White Bear Lake, MN facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced support for engineering projects with minimal direction, acting as an extrusion process expert.
• Set up, run, and adjust extrusion equipment per specialized standards on multiple machines.
• Perform quality checks, examine products for defects and size variations, and complete production documentation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems to meet quality and efficiency targets.
• Work independently with little supervision.
• Create draft manufacturing documents, including work instructions, certification checklists, visual aids, and setup sheets.
• Establish and document process windows and controls, understanding cause and effect in process development.
• Support transitioning projects into production, including training manufacturing personnel.
• Provide ongoing engineering support to optimize tooling and production processes.
• Implement controlled changes within established parameters and process change procedures.
• Train others based on expertise or demonstrated work performance.
• Perform material handling, including weighing, staging raw materials, packaging, sampling, and in-process testing.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; 2-year technical degree strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant technician experience.
• Demonstrated experience in tubing extrusion.
• Direct experience participating in complex projects to commercialization.
• Experience with medical multi-lumen extrusion preferred.
• Ability to travel between Fridley, MN and White Bear Lake, MN sites as needed.

Pay

The expected hiring range for this position is $32.00 to $36.50 per hour for a full-time schedule, based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity. This position is bonus eligible.
