Senior Engineering Technician - Extrusions

About the role

The Senior Engineering Technician – Extrusions provides technical support to cross-functional teams to characterize and develop new technology platforms and processes. Reporting to the Principal Extrusion Engineer, you will work closely with a team of engineers to run extrusion processes, set up, operate, troubleshoot, and clean extrusion manufacturing equipment, and ensure adherence to specialized standards. This position is located at our Fridley, MN site and may require occasional travel to our White Bear Lake, MN facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced support for engineering projects, acting as an engineering process "expert" with minimal direction.
• Set up, run, and adjust extrusion equipment per specialized standards on multiple pieces of machinery and/or processes.
• Perform quality checks, examine product for defects and size variations, and complete production documentation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems to meet quality limits and efficiency targets.
• Work independently with little supervision.
• Create draft manufacturing documents including work instructions, certification checklists, visual aids, setup sheets, etc.
• Establish and document process windows and controls, understanding cause and effect in process development.
• Provide advanced support for transitioning projects into production, including training manufacturing personnel.
• Optimize tooling and production processes, implementing controlled changes within established parameters.
• Train others based on expertise or demonstrated work performance.
• Handle material weighing, staging of raw materials, packaging, sampling, and in-process testing.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area free of foreign debris.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; 2-year technical degree strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant technician experience.
• Demonstrated experience in tubing extrusion.
• Direct experience participating in complex projects to commercialization.
• Experience with medical multi-lumen extrusion preferred.
• Ability to travel between Fridley, MN and White Bear Lake, MN sites as needed.

Pay

The expected hiring range for this position is between $32.00 and $36.50/hour based on a full-time schedule. Base salaries are determined by candidate qualifications, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity.
