About the role

We are seeking talented, experienced Senior Principal Level Software engineers to help us create the world’s most advanced solutions in areas such as Electronic Warfare, Secure Communications and Networking, Radar Warning, and Electronic Attack for our defense-related customers. Our products provide critical mission capabilities to address the ever-evolving challenges and threats to our nation’s security and the warfighter.

You will be an integrated team member, with leadership opportunities, collaborating with Systems, Hardware, and Test engineers in one or more phases of Project Planning, Requirements Development, Design, Development, Integration, and Testing. You will prepare design and project documentation intended for use within complex programs or across sets of programs in accordance with established processes. We provide opportunities to learn, leverage current technologies, incorporate new technologies, and lead within our engineering organization.

Opportunities are available as a technical lead on programs where you will mentor your team and present technical designs at customer technical interchange meetings. Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or onsite work requirements, this role will be performed full-time onsite at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, code, and modify complex software designs (typically in C++) for simple systems, subsystems, or subsystems of larger systems.
  • Evaluate complex software designs to identify flaws.
  • Establish communication to keep management informed of progress and results.
  • Use and evolve existing processes to incorporate effective new techniques, minimizing both design and product costs.
  • Provide top-level technical leadership for assigned design discipline(s), including selection and exploitation of promising new technologies and long-term goals.
  • Ensure effective communication among engineers, management, and all participants in the architecture and design process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field and 6+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience leading software development teams.
  • Experience with CAM/Earned Value.
  • Extensive background in software development in C++.
  • Software development experience in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with software and systems engineering processes, methodologies, and tools.
  • DoD Secret or higher-level clearance (active within the past two years).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Real-time embedded development experience.
  • Working knowledge of military systems and designs.
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • Ability to develop, lead, and motivate technical teams.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills (both verbal and written).

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $132,962 – $226,035. Individual salaries are determined by factors including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
