About This Role
We are seeking a Senior Engineer – Electrical Design Studies to lead and execute advanced power system studies across transmission, distribution, and generation networks. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who enjoys solving complex challenges, mentoring others, and working directly with clients to deliver impactful results. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in areas such as grounding, insulation coordination, electromagnetic transients, and power quality. You will work in a fast-paced, client-focused environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support utility clients across North America.
What You'll Do
- Lead technical studies involving grounding, insulation coordination, AC interference, and transient simulations.
- Perform detailed modeling and analysis using tools such as PSCAD, ATP-EMTP, CDEGS, and WinIGS.
- Translate complex technical findings into actionable insights for clients.
- Support proposal development, project scoping, and client relationship management.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with protection, planning, and field engineering teams to integrate study results.
- Ensure all work meets high standards of quality, compliance, and industry best practices.

Job Duties

Qualifications
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
- 10+ years of experience in power system studies, with a focus on design studies
- Proven ability to lead complex technical projects independently
- Strong communication skills and experience in client-facing roles
- Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings and site visits
- Systems & Skills:
- PSCAD, ATP-EMTP, CDEGS, WinIGS
- Familiarity with ASPEN, CAPE, SKM, ETAP, PSS/E, PowerWorld, or Python scripting (plus)
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Graduate coursework or certifications in power systems, EMTP, or related areas
- Professional Engineer (P.E. or P.Eng.) license
- Systems & Skills:
- Experience in protection or system planning studies
- Prior involvement in proposal development and business development
