About the Role
Join the Plumbing Design/Engineering team based in Raleigh, North Carolina office, working on healthcare facilities, higher education & science and technology plumbing MEP projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor staff on all of their responsibilities
- Collaborate with and support fellow colleagues on their technical development and professional growth
- Work knowledge of various codes including but not limited to North Carolina Plumbing Code, IPC, UPC and CPC as well as NFPA 99 Review code related items with engineers to ensure compliance
- Perform at a responsible charge level of meeting exp design and quality levels
- Create the narratives (basis of design) for the SD work
- Perform front-end loading of plumbing systems
- Develop and monitor plumbing work plans in conjunction with PM
- Write specification sections
- Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours
- Write studies and reports for plumbing and medical gas systems when needed on projects
- Understand and apply engineering principles and fundamentals through calculations and design
- Be able to troubleshoot construction issues on site with the team
- Assist the Project Manager with developing fees, add services, and overseeing the project design
- Be able to manage time effectively to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines adequately
- Assists with development of design guides, guide specifications, and design control procedures when directed by the Principle Lead
Requirements
- Proficient with both plumbing engineering and design, with a minimum of 5 years of experience
- Experience in the design of healthcare facilities and associated requirements
- Extensive background into NFPA 99 and NFPA 55
- Designed medical gas systems for MOB, ASC and Hospitals
- Worked with DHSR
- Experience with the City of Raleigh and City of Durham Inspections departments
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledgeable with Revit
- Ability to regularly interface with the client through regular attendance at project meetings, performing existing condition site surveys, and job site walks to trouble shoot construction issues
- Good time management skills with the ability to stay organized and produce proficient work on multiple overlapping projects
Skills
- Proficiency in plumbing engineering and design
- Knowledge of various codes including North Carolina Plumbing Code, IPC, UPC, CPC, and NFPA 99 Review
- Experience in healthcare facility design
- Experience with medical gas systems
