About the role

The Senior Plumbing Engineer is responsible for producing clear, accurate, and comprehensive engineering drawings and documentation for a wide range of building projects. In this role, you will lead the design of plumbing and piping systems—including domestic water, sanitary and storm drainage, medical gases, and specialty systems—while ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Create and prepare designs for plumbing and medical gas systems;
  • Able to perform water, waste, gas calculations as well as product specifications;
  • Cook up and prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documents;
  • Design plumbing systems including water, sanitary, storm, diesel distribution, natural gas distribution, medical gas, and specialty lab gas systems;
  • Incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings and prepare green rating system documentation;
  • Absorb spatial coordination with architecture and other engineering systems;
  • Deliver projects across multiple delivery models, including design/bid/build, design assist, design build;
  • Process contractor submittals and RFIs;
  • Perform on site condition surveys;
  • Provide mentoring and direction to junior members of the project team or engineering discipline;
  • Use technology and methodologies to create innovative approaches to building design;
  • Consistently strive to improve technical quality of work product by keeping abreast of new technologies, changes in building codes, and advances in the industry;
  • Work collaboratively in a cross-discipline environment to produce integrated project documents, and insure integrated design approaches & solutions;
  • Assist in the procurement of high-quality work, including marketing / proposal efforts and project interviews;
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on projects related to Government, Healthcare, Higher Education and Science & Technology;
  • Maintain strong client relations as it pertains to project delivery and repeat business;
  • Perform and maintain thorough QA/QC on all phases of projects.

Requirements

Professional Engineering license required; Experience supervising a team of engineers; LEED AP BD+C preferred; Familiarity with BIM; Maintain technical competence by staying current on appropriate codes and technologies; Proficient in the use of state-of-the-art tools for engineering design and documentation, including Revit; Thorough understanding of plumbing engineering systems; Expertise in an area of concentration, such as Datacenter, Advanced Manufacturing, Science & Technology and Healthcare. Monitors & manages project budgets to ensure cost effective delivery.

Qualifications

  • Professional Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architecture Engineering required;
  • 10+ years of experience in plumbing design.

Skills

  • Professional Engineering license;

  • Familiarity with BIM;
  • Proficient in the use of state-of-the-art tools for engineering design and documentation, including Revit;

Pay

Pay Range: $117,800.00 - $176,800.00 Annually
