Senior Payroll Administrator
About the Role
Leonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full-time Senior Payroll Administrator based in Bridgeton, MO. This position offers an in-person or hybrid work schedule and involves processing payroll, reconciling accounts, and managing payroll-related tasks for a global military and commercial customer base.
Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle payroll, including balancing and reconciling all payroll figures.
- Handle new hires, intercompany transfers, and terminations.
- Enter employee banking and tax changes in ADP.
- Review and post timesheets on a weekly basis.
- Prepare journal entries to record bi-weekly payroll.
- Verify payroll, validating exceptions such as overtime, personal time, sick time, and vacation time.
- Balance payroll data to the ADP Payroll Preview before submission.
- Perform three-way reconciliation between timesheets, Costpoint ERP System, and ADP with each payroll.
- Enter and process garnishments (Tax Levy, IWO, State, and creditor garnishments).
- Balance year-end W-2 data, including gross wages, taxes, life insurance, moving expenses, and car allowances.
- Answer payroll inquiries from employees, management, banks, and governmental agencies.
- Prepare various reports as required.
- Record additional journal entries for void checks, errors, etc.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations for payroll liability and cash general ledger accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Learn Union Payroll to serve as backup for vacations and out-of-office time.
- Review employees' City Earnings tax quarterly.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy in a multi-task environment while meeting deadlines.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the organization’s mission, values, and culture.
- Audit system controls to ensure accuracy.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- 5+ years of payroll experience.
- Mastery of payroll business procedures and principles.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles.
- Working knowledge of Tax Levy, State and creditor garnishments, and IWOs.
- Working knowledge of computerized payroll systems (ADP, Cognos, CP, SFT a plus).
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal wage payment laws.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $60,045.00/year to $78,058.00/year for the state of Illinois. Several factors may influence the pay scale, including federal contract labor categories, geographic location, business considerations, scope and responsibilities of the position, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate’s qualifications, such as prior work experience, skills, competencies, education, training, and certifications.
In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable).
