About the role
- Provide coverage at other clinics within the region for callouts and other planned paid time off.
- Act as the primary trainer for all new hires, mentor and train all patient service representatives on process improvement measures, and updated company policy and procedures.
- Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner, responding to routine requests for information.
- Register patients, including obtaining prior authorization, eligibility and benefits, scanning patient ID and insurance card, taking patient photos in EMR, and confirming patient demographics and paperwork for accuracy and completion.
- Relay benefit information to patients.
- Collect patient account balances, co-insurance, copays, deductibles, or estimated self-pay rates; prepare daily batch deposits.
- Interact with patients, family members, visitors, and healthcare team members; direct patient questions and/or complaints to the appropriate department; maintain efficient patient flow during check-in and check-out; check in outside vendors.
- Schedule patients for follow-up office visits or procedures, log no-show appointments; ensure proper authorization and/or valid referral documentation is included; assist in scanning.
- Maintain and organize the lobby area at the end of the day; lock up the clinic.
- Answer phones in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner, screening and routing calls as needed; create phone notes in the patient electronic medical record and provide information to patients.
- Maintain medical records.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Working knowledge of computer programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to train others on practice management software and expand knowledge as updates occur.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of medical office experience.
