Senior Oracle DBA

About the role

The Senior Oracle DBA will support and modernize enterprise Oracle database environments, focusing on Oracle Exadata, AWS cloud migrations, and automation using Infrastructure as Code and scripting.

Responsibilities

• Administers, monitors, and maintains enterprise Oracle database environments to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
• Optimizes Oracle Exadata infrastructure through performance tuning and capacity planning.
• Designs and executes Oracle database migrations to AWS, including planning, testing, and production cutovers.
• Manages Oracle databases in cloud environments, including Amazon RDS for Oracle and Oracle workloads running on AWS infrastructure.
• Develops and maintains automation for database provisioning, configuration management, patching, and deployments using Ansible and Terraform.
• Creates and maintains scripting solutions using Shell, Python, or similar languages to automate administrative tasks and operational support.
• Uses Git for version control to manage Infrastructure as Code, database automation scripts, and configuration changes.
• Performs Oracle database installation, upgrades, patching, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery activities.
• Maintains database performance, troubleshoots complex production issues, and implements tuning recommendations.
• Collaborates with infrastructure, cloud, application, and DevOps teams to support enterprise modernization initiatives.
• Participates in architecture planning, cloud migration strategies, and continuous improvement efforts for database platforms.

Requirements

• 8+ years of Oracle Database Administration experience supporting enterprise production environments.
• Hands-on experience administering Oracle Exadata systems.
• Experience migrating Oracle databases to AWS cloud environments.
• Experience supporting Oracle cloud database platforms, including Oracle workloads hosted in AWS.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Experience automating database administration and infrastructure management using Ansible.
• Proficiency with Git for source control and infrastructure/code management.
• Strong scripting experience using Shell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Experience with Oracle performance tuning, troubleshooting, backup/recovery, patching, and upgrades.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems and enterprise storage/networking concepts.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting Amazon RDS for Oracle or Oracle databases running on AWS EC2 (preferred).
• Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) (preferred).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines supporting database deployments and automation (preferred).
• Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or AWS cloud experience and certifications (preferred).
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or equivalent Oracle certification (preferred).
• Experience working in large enterprise or highly regulated environments (preferred).
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies (preferred).
