Oracle - Senior Database Administrator

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements database schemas
• Maintains and optimizes database performance
• Monitors database health and performs routine backups and recovery operations
• Troubleshoots database-related issues and manages user access and permissions
• Ensures compliance with organizational policies and industry standards
• Stays current on updates, patches, and advancements in Oracle technologies
• Builds, supports, administers, and sustains a clustered-server database platform
• Provides technical support for incident response, service degradations, outages, and other service interruptions
• Investigates hardware and software problems related to the database-hosting infrastructure and performs corrective actions
• Collaborates with application development teams to design and optimize Oracle databases
• Develops, executes, and oversees data migration initiatives
• Maintains comprehensive documentation detailing database configurations, procedures, and best practices
• Generates performance and usage reports to support informed decision-making
• Drives problem resolution and root cause analysis across the technology stack
• Sustains fleet of physical and virtual database-hosting servers running a mix of operating systems (Open Systems and Windows Systems)
• Performs daily operations, onsite support, and on-call support for all aspects of database architecture, database platforms, and database management software
• Supports and participates in projects relating to the move of systems and services to modernized hosting environments and Cloud capabilities
• Works with original equipment manufacturers and/or third-party vendors to resolve performance degradations and outages
• Provides expert advice on configuring database systems to meet the environment and boundary requirements and customize services to meet new performance goals

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility
• B.S. in a related field and 10+ years of database administration experience including experience with Oracle databases
• ITIL v4 Certification
• Oracle Database Administration (12c-21c): Installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting
• A strong understanding of data and databases, Python, the ability to translate customer requirements, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders
• Strong oral and written communication skills
