About the role
We are seeking an Oracle Cloud Project Manager (Public Sector/K12) to join our Oracle Cloud Consulting team. This is a permanent, full-time position with occasional travel to customer sites. The role focuses on the public sector (state, local, county, public utilities, transportation) and K12 markets, driving customer success and industry best practices within IBM’s Government Delivery objectives.
Responsibilities
- Improve customer success through customer-centric engagement and high satisfaction.
- Establish public sector/K12 industry best practices and customer advocacy within IBM delivery.
- Orchestrate delivery-led growth and partnerships with public sector/K12 clients.
- Create customer forums and groups to enhance IBM’s client experience and industry presence.
- Administer IBM engagements by expanding service lines within public sector clients.
- Direct multiple project work teams, collaborating with project managers, account managers, and delivery leadership.
- Oversee development and integration of project deliverables, setting objectives and priorities.
- Monitor project progress, performance, and staffing requirements.
- Provide leadership in structuring large, multi-year client engagements with multiple sub-contractors and phases.
- Profitably manage a portfolio of public sector projects within planned timelines, budgets, margins, and quality specifications using methodologies like risk mitigation, change management, and contract management.
- Write accurate and effective statements of work to clarify project expectations and roles for both clients and IBM staff.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities for profitable revenue growth within existing client bases, including qualifying, pricing, and negotiating services.
- Participate in sales and pre-sales activities for new public sector client pursuits, representing IBM’s delivery methodology and expertise.
- Establish strong client relationships, translating long-range requirements into services strategies and partnering with senior management.
- Navigate project progress, anticipate and communicate issues with resolution options, and serve as an escalation point on executive steering committees.
- Maintain long-term client relationships post-project completion.
- Serve as an expert in Oracle Cloud solutions, aligning them with client business needs to drive IBM growth.
- Build and maintain relationships with public sector trade associations, regulatory organizations, and key government executives.
Requirements
- A minimum of 15 years of consulting experience, with at least 6 years managing projects/programs for public sector clients at consulting firms.
- Prior experience with ERP and HCM SaaS applications, preferably Oracle Cloud.
- Experience as an architect, solutions specialist, business development manager, or project manager.
- A proven track record of developing new, profitable add-on business.
- Strong communication skills with experience building relationships at all client levels.
- Excellent presentation and listening skills.
- Collaborative team player comfortable working in a fast-paced, diverse environment.
- Attention to detail and a natural curiosity to solve problems relentlessly.
- In-depth knowledge of public sector organizations, processes, challenges, systems, and technologies.
- Active participation in professional associations, industry roundtables, or similar groups.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong Oracle Applications knowledge, including project charter/contract requirements and Oracle Enterprise Applications environments.
- Experience with advanced project management methodologies for planning, execution, and monitoring.
This role can be performed from anywhere in the U.S. Preferred education: Master’s Degree.
