Senior or Managing Immigration Paralegal
About the role
CLSEPA seeks a Managing or Senior Paralegal to support our Immigration program. This is an opportunity to be on the front lines of responding to the need for immigration legal services within working class communities, lending your client-facing and substantive immigration experience and leadership to our mission-driven team.
Responsibilities
- Standardize and oversee client-centered intake process compliant with ethical standards
- Evaluate and improve CLSEPA’s clinic procedures, gathering input from clients, attorneys, volunteers, and staff
- Supervise and mentor paralegals, intake and clinic coordinators, and other support staff, supporting workload management and professional growth
- Lead onboarding and training for new paralegals and support staff
- Take ownership of case assignments and support active cases under attorney supervision, including preparing legal forms, drafting documents, and communicating with clients and other parties
- Carefully coordinate and staff community outreach and clinic events
- Manage the year-round internship program and supervise undergraduate interns
Requirements
- Fluency in Spanish
- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- 3–5 years' paralegal or legal support experience at a nonprofit, law firm, or legal department
- 1 to 3 years of supervisory experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely
- Familiarity with the California Rules of Professional Conduct as they apply to paralegals and administrative staff
- The ability to summarize client stories and recognize general legal issues
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines

Qualifications

Pay
Starting pay ranges (depending on experience):
Senior Paralegal hourly pay is $35.57-$39.42
Managing Paralegal annual salary is $79,000-$99,000
Schedule
This is a full-time position.
Location
CLSEPA is a hybrid workplace. Employees are expected to reside in the Bay Area/Northern California and at a distance allowing them to commute to their physical CLSEPA base location or other service delivery locations as needed.
