The Role
We’re looking for a Senior or Lead Field Service Technician with extensive field experience to support electrical system projects across the U.S.
What You’ll Do
- Lead testing and maintenance on LV to HV systems (480V–600kV), including breakers (air, SF6, vacuum), relays, cables, motor controls, and transformers
- Run advanced diagnostics using Power Factor, Tan Delta, VLF, DC Hi-Pot, Doble, TTR, winding resistance, insulation resistance, and contact resistance tests
- Perform and validate electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor relay testing
- Oversee test plan execution and commissioning procedures for new systems, retrofits, and upgrades
- Serve as the lead field contact for clients, communicating status updates and coordinating project requirements
- Direct emergency response, shutdowns, and start-ups with minimal supervision
- Follow and enforce strict safety and PPE usage protocols
Experience We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in power plant, utility, or industrial power systems, including power systems testing, troubleshooting, or commissioning (480V–500kV)
- Expert-level experience with protection & control systems, relay testing, and high-voltage commissioning
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and PowerDB for documentation
- Ability to lead teams, delegate tasks, and make sound decisions under pressure
- Thorough knowledge of NETA standards and safety regulations
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel at least 75%, including overnight stays and flexible scheduling
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license
- Successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
- Able to work flexible schedules, including overtime and occasional weekends, holidays, or nights
- Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and performing extended physical activity
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, at heights, in confined spaces, and around high-voltage equipment and heavy machinery
- Adequate vision, hearing, and English communication skills
Bonus Points for
- NETA Level III or IV strongly preferred; journeyman
- Completion of a trade school program, technical college, associate degree, or skilled trade
- Experience leading commissioning crews and mentoring junior technicians
