About the role

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Nondestructive Test (NDT) Technician specializing in Ultrasonic (UT) and Radiographic (RT) testing to join our Quality Fabrication organization in St. Louis, MO. In this role, you will conduct Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) on aerospace products using cutting-edge methods including ultrasonic (UT), eddy current (ET), and/or radiographic (RT). You will work with digital and automated inspection systems in an aerospace environment aligned with industry standards and regulations. Employees will be required to obtain Boeing NDT certification and pass a vision exam. Candidates must have documented evidence of NDT certification, education, and/or OJT hours in UT or RT available for Boeing Level 3 review.

Work Environment

• May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, and smoke (not over OSHA permissible exposure levels).
• Involves exposure to radiation; candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of relevant safety and health regulations, protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Safety training and equipment are provided by Boeing in accordance with applicable laws, industry standards, and company policies.
• Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) applicable to the testing method being used.
• Able and willing to stand 90% of the time, stoop, bend, stretch, and engage in awkward positioning.
• Able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Guides the development, implementation, or improvement of non-destructive inspection or test techniques.
• Develops, deploys, and implements tests or inspections and data collection techniques utilizing evolving technology.
• Develops program-specific non-destructive testing documents.
• Interprets codes, standards, and other contractual specifications that control the method used at their Site and/or program(s).
• Develops and implements processes and procedures for new or revised non-destructive testing methods.
• Audits, validates, and approves systems and techniques of suppliers and processors.
• Develops certification training and examinations.
• Develops innovative test processes and equipment.
• Consults suppliers and customers to resolve technical issues involving tests, processes, and equipment.
• Develops principles and methods for analyzing test, inspection, or statistical data.
• Consults on corrective action to resolve process or product anomalies.
• Participates on enterprise and industry teams to influence the standardization and regulation of training and certification requirements.
• Conducts certification preparation training, capable of providing guidance and/or supervision to Trainees, Level I, and II NDT Certified personnel.
• Responsible for non-destructive testing and acceptance of repairs to company products.
• Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Formal, documented hours of NDT training/experience or military equivalent.
• Currently hold ASNT Level III NDT certification in Ultrasonic (UT), Eddy Current (ET), or Radiography (RT).
• More than 5 years of experience reading, understanding, and interpreting engineering technical information (e.g., drawings, handbooks, industry standards, and specifications).
• More than 5 years of experience interpreting/developing policies, practices, processes, and procedures as they apply to technical documentation to ensure quality product delivery.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Products like Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

• More than 10 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• More than 5 years of experience conducting NDT certification preparation training (developing certification training and examinations) providing guidance and/or supervision to Trainees, Level I, and II NDT Certified personnel.
• Skills and knowledge to audit NDT facilities for compliance with applicable requirements.
• More than 5 years of NDT experience in aerospace composite inspection.

Pay

Summary pay range for senior level (Level 4): USD $98,700–$125,020
Summary pay range for senior level (Level 5): USD $116,550–$147,630
Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Schedule

• This role may be on first, second, or third shift; however, there may be additional shift requirements to support program objectives.
• Position may require up to 5% travel.
