Senior Military Analyst – Tactical Networks & Mission Systems Interoperability
Position Summary
Serves as the team’s technical-operational specialist for Aviation tactical networks, communications, data exchange, and interoperability. This is a capability-development position and is not intended to perform routine network administration or help-desk functions.
Principal Duties
- Analyze Aviation tactical network, communications, data-link, transport, gateway, and interoperability capability gaps and operational requirements.
- Evaluate line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight communications, tactical radios and waveforms, data exchange, network resiliency, and performance in contested or degraded environments.
- Assess interfaces among Aviation platforms, command posts, ground formations, unmanned systems, Army Mission Command systems, and Joint or coalition networks.
- Develop or support requirements documents, CONOPS, technical and operational analyses, interoperability assessments, and DOTMLPF-P recommendations.
- Coincide with operational users, network and mission-system engineers, capability developers, materiel developers, test organizations, and industry.
- Support demonstrations, experimentation, technical interchange meetings, senior-leader briefings, and time-sensitive analytical requirements.
Position-Specific Qualifications
- A former field-grade officer or senior warrant officer; a former senior NCO who completed the Master Leader Course may be considered with MSD Director approval.
- At least five years of Aviation operations experience.
- CGSC/ILE graduate unless an approved exception applies.
- Aviation battalion or brigade S3/XO, command-post, air-ground integration, mission-planning, or comparable operational integration experience strongly preferred.
- Combat-development and requirements-writing experience required.
- Average combat experience combined with tactical communications, mission systems, data-link, network integration, or interoperability expertise.
- Working knowledge of resilient tactical networking and information exchange in contested or degraded operational environments.
- Ability to translate technical network performance and interoperability issues into operational requirements and decision-ready recommendations.
