About the role
This individual will drive the vision and execution of merchandising and buying strategies for the soft wovens category (Dresses, Tops & Skirts), working cross-functionally with Design, Production, Sales, Planning, and Marketing to ensure an elevated, trend-forward, and cohesive product offering that aligns with the brand’s seasonal and long-term objectives. This role is based in our New York office and reports to the Senior Director of RTW Merchandising.
Responsibilities
- Create seasonal line plans for soft wovens ensuring alignment with brand vision, business goals, and customer needs.
- Analyze weekly, monthly, and seasonal sales data to assess category performance and identify key opportunities.
- Deliver hindsight reporting and translate findings into forward-looking merchandising strategies.
- Provide competitive analysis: price points, silhouettes, fabric, category, etc.
- Identify new trends and provide seasonal merchandising guidance.
- Provide/develop product knowledge for store and e-commerce teams.
- Act as liaison between Design, Sales, Production, Planning, and Marketing.
- Oversee the buying process for DTC (retail and e-commerce) channels and support in-season performance to achieve sales and margin targets.
- Manage Assistant Merchant, providing direction, coaching, and clear development goals to support their success and growth.
- Build effective relationships with colleagues and cross-functional partners.
Requirements
- 7+ years of merchandising experience, with a strong background in soft wovens preferred.
- Knowledge of the marketplace and a history in RTW sales.
- Well-versed in all aspects of the fashion industry, including fabrics, fit, and construction.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a passion for product and brand storytelling.
- Strong analytical skills and reporting abilities to identify opportunities and wins.
- Passionate and excited to be on the front lines of a growing team.
- Self-starter able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player who can work independently as well as collaboratively cross-functionally.
Pay
The base salary range for this role is between $110,000 and $115,000. The relevant base salary will vary depending on a wide range of factors, including skill sets, experience, training, degrees, and certifications.
