About the role
The Senior Medical Assistant Certified- ENT position at Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group is responsible for providing comprehensive support to physicians and managing patient care in a specialized ENT clinic setting. This role requires a minimum of five years of medical assistant experience with a focus on chronic disease management or a specialty discipline.
Responsibilities
- Prepares patients for examinations and treatments, ensuring all necessary paperwork and preparations are completed.
- Assists in diagnostic procedures, including but not limited to EKGs, rapid strep tests, and urinalysis.
- Ensures proper sterilization and maintenance of medical equipment and supplies.
- Communicates with patients regarding their medical history, symptoms, and treatment plans.
- Follows up with patients to ensure they are adhering to prescribed medications and follow-up appointments.
- Coordinates care with other healthcare providers and community resources as needed.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives and maintains high standards of patient care.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Five years of medical assistant experience with a focus on chronic disease management or a specialty discipline.
- Absolutely required: Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant, and BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Preferred: CPT certification as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to provide compassionate and patient-centered care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and equipment.
- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
- Proficiency in computer systems for documentation and work-related purposes.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
This position is full-time and works a standard 8-hour day, Monday through Friday.
