About the role

The Senior Medical Assistant Certified position at our Cancer Center is responsible for providing comprehensive support to physicians and other healthcare providers. This role requires a minimum of five years of medical assistant experience with a focus on chronic disease management or a specialty discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for examinations and treatments, ensuring all necessary paperwork and preparations are completed.
  • Assists with diagnostic procedures, including drawing blood and performing urinalyses.
  • Administers medications as prescribed, documenting all treatments and procedures accurately.
  • Coordinates patient care, including follow-ups and referrals to specialists.
  • Ensures the cleanliness and sterilization of medical equipment and treatment areas.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of medical assistant experience with a focus on chronic disease management or a specialty discipline.
  • Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA, or Registered Medical Assistant.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers.
  • Knowledgeable about medical practices and patient care, able to assist with examinations and treatments.
  • Proficient in computer skills for documentation and work-related purposes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and the public.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of the patient population and its relation to the clinical disease process.
  • Advanced assessment competences appropriate for the level of practice.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $55,000 annually.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, with standard daytime hours.
