Senior Mechanical / Plumbing Engineer
About the role
The Senior Mechanical Engineer should be capable of working independently with limited supervision to complete both small and large projects and may serve as a discipline representative in client meetings.
Responsibilities
- Serve as technical advisor for team
- Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
- Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings
- Prepare technical specification sections
- Provide input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements
- Provide technical support and mentoring to junior engineers
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: BA/BS + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience on complex mechanical and/or plumbing design projects such as Healthcare facility, Laboratory or similar
- Thorough working knowledge of relevant engineering software: REVIT, CAD, load calculation software, Excel
- Construction phase experience: submittal reviews, on-site inspections, RFIs, change orders, etc.
- Plumbing and Medical Gas design experience for hospitals and labs
- Experience preparing proposals, interviewing, communicating with clients
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external clients
- Well organized with ability to demonstrate critical thinking to quickly recognize issues and be part of the solution
- Knowledge of ASHRAE standards, NFPA and ICC codes
- Experience with analysis and layout of Plumbing and/or HVAC systems, hydronic piping, medical gas, air distribution and associated products and materials
Pay
$40.00 - $60.00/hr. Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.

This is a Contract position based out of Minneapolis, MN. Hybrid position in Minneapolis, MN.
