About the role
The Senior Warehouse Operator plays a crucial role in executing material handling operations, ensuring efficient movement of goods, managing inventory, and supporting warehouse activities. This position requires a strong understanding of warehouse operations, material flow, and safety procedures, as well as the ability to mentor and assist Material Handlers.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to and enforce company, facility, and warehouse safety policies and procedures, promptly reporting any potential non-compliance issues.
- Ensure compliance with environmental policies by actively participating in environmental programs to meet objectives and targets within the assigned area.
- Maintain strict compliance with QSR, ISO, and all applicable regulations while following all policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance, support, and assistance to material handlers in performing their duties; offer training and mentorship to ensure efficient and accurate material handling processes; foster teamwork and help resolve any challenges or issues that arise within the team.
- Mentor and train Material Handlers on best practices for warehouse operations, material handling, and safety procedures.
- Take a leadership role in achieving team objectives and assigned results; safeguard business information and maintain confidentiality; ensure system security, data accuracy, and integrity; stay current with professional and technical knowledge; ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate standards; contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Serve as a key resource for troubleshooting materials management system transactions, including location transfers, receiving, and shipping.
- Perform both physical and system-related tasks required for receiving resin into silos, ensuring accuracy and compliance with procedures.
- Maintain Biohazardous Waste Collection Area and Hazardous Materials Storage Area.
- Cookout the removal of site biohazardous waste and hazardous waste materials with appropriate 3rd party contract service providers, in compliance with EPA, DOT, and Pa DEP requirements.
- Provide timely and accurate responses to internal and external customer inquiries, maintaining a professional company image and fostering strong supplier relationships.
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse by following housekeeping procedures, completing checklists, and ensuring optimal space utilization for safe and efficient material storage.
- Maintain label control records, verify label expiration dates, and identify and correct any discrepancies to ensure compliance.
- Maintain accurate records and reports to support job functions, ensuring historical and permanent reference documentation is up to date.
- Conduct independent cycle counts and physical inventory activities, investigating discrepancies and completing material adjustment transactions for approval.
- Properly store, organize, and protect warehouse inventory, ensuring materials are readily accessible and secure.
- Maintain appropriate materials segregation according to established SOPs and QMS requirements.
- Proficient in operating forklifts and hand pallet jacks specific to the facility, ensuring safe and efficient material handling.
- Conduct daily inspections of Powered Industrial Trucks/Vehicles (PITs/PIVs/forklifts), report mechanical defects, and complete maintenance checklists to ensure operational readiness.
- Use dock-related equipment, including dock locks, dock doors, glad hand locks, banding equipment, stretch wrappers, and hand jacks.
- Load and unload trailers using forklifts while following safety protocols and handling procedures.
- Assist in transporting raw materials and finished products between manufacturing and warehouse areas, ensuring proper placement in storage systems.
- Perform the safe transportation, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with all applicable regulations and safety standards; ensure proper handling and labeling of hazardous materials; monitor storage conditions to prevent safety risks or environmental hazards; and maintain accurate documentation for hazardous material management and disposal.
- Perform physical and system transactions related to RMAs in accordance with established procedures.
- Actively communicate and collaborate to support department, plant, and company goals, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Qualifications
- Education: HS Diploma (or equivalent)
- Experience: 3 years: Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Familiarity With Working In An FDA-regulated Industry.
- Skills: Demonstrated written communication skills; Strong verbal communication and active listening skills; Maintains a high level of accuracy, even under pressure; Performs work independently with minimal supervision; Possesses a high degree of initiative and problem-solving ability; Demonstrated customer service skills to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders; Familiarity with safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and best practices for workplace safety; Proven expertise in material handling operations; Understanding of Quality Systems, ISO regulations, and GMP practices; Knowledge of general warehousing, shipping, traffic, and inventory management functions.
