What this job involves

The Senior Material Coordinator (MCIII) is a hands-on warehouse operations lead responsible for executing and coordinating material management activities in a cGMP-regulated environment. This role supports the Warehouse Operations Supervisor in directing daily warehouse activities, providing guidance and training to Material Coordinators, resolving operational issues, and ensuring warehouse operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. The Senior Material Coordinator remains actively engaged in day-to-day material handling activities, including shipping, receiving, inventory management, cycle counting, and material distribution, while serving as a technical resource and subject matter expert for warehouse processes, systems, and compliance requirements.

What your day-to-day will look like

  • Execute and coordinate critical warehouse operations related to shipping, receiving, storing, delivering, transferring, reconciling, and cycle counting of materials in accordance with cGMP procedures and regulations.
  • Support daily warehouse operations by helping prioritize workload and ensuring timely completion of operational tasks.
  • Operate Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIVs), to include but not limited to forklifts, order pickers, turret trucks, and pallet handling equipment, to move materials safely and efficiently throughout the facility.
  • Perform inventory transactions and material movements within SAP ERP and other warehouse management systems.
  • Ensure materials are accurately received, stored, issued, and transferred within multiple systems and/or between multiple sites.
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day resource and working lead for Material Coordinators. Support the Warehouse Operations Supervisor in coordinating daily activities, assigning priorities, and maintaining workflow efficiency.
  • Provide hands-on training, coaching, and mentoring to team members on warehouse processes, equipment operation, and GMP requirements.
  • Assist with onboarding and development of new employees.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of inventory discrepancies, process issues, and material flow challenges.
  • Provide operational leadership and support during the absence of the Warehouse Operations Supervisor.
  • Ensure materials are received, stored, handled, and distributed according to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Good Distribution Practices (GDP), and other applicable regulations and specifications.
  • Ensure GMP activities are executed and documented according to approved procedures and cGMP/GDP requirements.
  • Support inventory accuracy through cycle counting, reconciliation activities, and investigation of discrepancies.
  • Maintain proper handling of temperature-controlled, controlled, and regulated materials.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and inventory records in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • BioWorks Certification or equivalent industry training.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in warehouse operations, material handling, inventory control, or logistics.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment and following standard operating procedures.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (SAP ERP) and MS Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate work activities and provide guidance to peers.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships across multiple teams.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other Powered Industrial Vehicles.
  • Be forward thinking and plan several steps ahead, being mindful of potential issues/problems that could arise with new or changed activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences warehouse environment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP ERP and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) shipping requirements.
  • Knowledge of cold chain distribution requirements.
  • Experience training or mentoring team members.
  • Ability to carefully and accurately follow complex written procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
