Senior Marketing and Proposal Specialist (AEC)

About the role

Michael Baker International is seeking a Senior Marketing and Proposal Specialist to play a strategic role in advancing regional growth initiatives across Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. This position is ideal for an experienced marketing professional with a strong understanding of the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry who is ready to lead complex pursuits and elevate client engagement strategies at a higher level.

Responsibilities

• Support pursuit efforts through proposal development and marketing campaigns
• Conduct market research and deliver insights that inform strategy
• Cook up advertising schedules, placements, and vendor relationships
• Develop targeted lists and data for direct marketing campaigns and CRM tracking
• Create and analyze sales and marketing performance reports
• Lead award submissions that highlight project success and innovation
• Facilitate proposal kickoffs, debriefs, and after-action reviews
• Manage marketing deliverables, including schedules, proofs, and vendor coordination
• Design compelling proposals, presentations, and brand-aligned collateral
• Aid in planning and graphic support for local conferences and events
• Manage internal communications channels, including intranet, newsletters, and social media
• Partner with office teams to plan culture-building events and employee engagement initiatives
• Develop visually compelling graphics and content using Adobe Creative Suite

Requirements

• Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field; minimum of 5+ years of marketing experience within the AEC or environmental consulting industry
• Minimum of 5+ years of marketing experience within the AEC or environmental consulting industry
• Strong technical writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with website management and content updates
• Familiarity with IDOT EPAS and prequalification processes
• Experience with CRM systems, preferably Salesforce, and marketing automation tools
• Knowledge of the Illinois market and regional industry landscape
• Experience working with IDOT, as well as local counties and municipal agencies

Benefits

Compensation: The approximate compensation range for this position is $97,000 - $100,000 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
