Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Foundry Operations) - Leeds, AL
About the Role
Our Connectors Business Unit in Leeds, AL is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer with strong foundry experience (Green Sand) to lead capital projects as the main point of contact across multiple functional areas and processes. This role involves machine selection, cell layout, financial justification, collaboration with quality and product engineering on control plans and requirements, timeline management, equipment installation, and production startup. You will take a lead role within our Foundries to drive immediate positive impact.
Responsibilities
- Support foundry processes including molding, melting, pouring, shakeout, and sand systems through troubleshooting and Continuous Improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with quality and product engineering on gating/riser design, metallurgy, and casting defect analysis.
- Compile and present project update reports to upper management regarding timelines, budgets, and estimated completion dates.
- Build and optimize manufacturing processes for existing products and new introductions using Lean Engineering Tools.
- Assist in developing and implementing cost-reduction initiatives through Continuous Improvement (kaizen) events.
- Lead troubleshooting activities for foundry process issues.
- Monitor and improve sand system performance, metal chemistry, and pour processes.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior-level engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- 5-8 years of experience in Manufacturing, preferably in a green sand foundry environment.
- Experience leading multi-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated success in justifying capital projects exceeding $1M.
- Knowledge of quality tools (SPC, FMEA, root cause analysis).
- Knowledge of foundry processes and casting design principles.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
