About the role

Amazon’s Global Trade Services (GTS) team creates scalable risk management and technology programs to enable cross-border expansion in compliance with import, export, and product compliance regulations. GTS seeks to hire a Head of North America (NA) Product Compliance (Sr. Manager, Risk) to drive strategy and operations. The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial leader and an inspiring people manager who can deliver best-in-class regulatory compliance programs in a highly complex and evolving regulatory environment.

This leader must digest new regulations and enforcement trends, set a vision for the region, drive alignment with cross-functional leaders, influence tech roadmaps and controls, and develop team members to bring the vision to life. They will excel at cross-functional collaboration with internal partners (e.g., Legal, Safety) serving Amazon's worldwide business lines and skillfully represent Amazon to external regulators and agencies. They will partner closely with technology teams to build scalable compliance programs and deliver premier vendor, seller, and customer compliance experiences.

In performing the role, the leader will employ subject matter expertise, strong judgment, calculated risk-taking, data-backed analysis, benchmarking from industry experts, and automation to deliver accurate, efficient compliance programs. As a people manager, the leader will foster an inclusive environment and help grow the careers of the risk managers in the team and wider GTS organization.

Responsibilities

• Design the worldwide import product compliance strategy for the organization, creating a clear vision for the team and driving delivery against it.
• Drive North America import product compliance strategy and operations with the local team.
• Maintain working knowledge of regulatory developments and policies impacting products worldwide, but particularly in North America.
• Work cross-functionally with internal and external partners to deliver best-in-class compliance controls.
• Design and monitor key compliance and operational metrics.
• Utilize strong judgment and data in prioritizing and balancing risk management needs.
• Exhibit leadership and develop team members to meet a high bar in delivering the strategy and succeed in their career goals.
• Leverage AI and technology to scale programs efficiently.

About the team

Amazon’s Global Trade Services (GTS) team creates scalable risk management and technology programs to enable cross-border expansion in compliance with import, export, and product compliance regulations. We leverage subject matter expertise, risk management, data, and technology to guide Amazon's retail and innovation businesses through the complexities of international trade.

Requirements

• 10+ years of risk management, audit, legal, compliance, or related field work including engaging with external stakeholders experience.
• 7+ years of team management with 5 or more direct reports experience.
• Experience working within a global company, with multi-country responsibilities.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Experience implementing scalable compliance solutions (technology, procedures, processes, etc.) in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), or regulatory requirements or standards.
• Master's degree or certification in regulatory compliance, product safety, or similar.

Pay

USA, WA, Bellevue - $158,600.00 - $214,500.00 USD annually.
