Senior Manager of Philanthropy - Major Gifts

About the role

We're looking for teammates who share our passion for creating equitable access to nutritious food and addressing the root causes and impact of hunger. The Senior Manager of Philanthropy – Major Gifts collaborates with the Director of Philanthropy in planning, goal setting, strategy development, implementation, evaluation, and securing of major individual and corporate gifts across Harvesters' entire service area.

This position develops, cultivates, and stewards long-term donor relationships as part of Harvesters' strategic plan, with a dual emphasis on individual and corporate funding sources to meet a significant portion of Harvesters' fundraising goals.

Responsibilities

• Plan, set goals, develop strategies, implement, and evaluate major gift fundraising efforts.
• Secure major individual and corporate gifts across the service area.
• Cultivate and steward long-term donor relationships.
• Engage in extensive writing and public speaking in varied environments (office, social events, presentations, meetings).
• Understand and comply with all Harvesters' food safety policies and procedures.
• Local travel within the service area and occasional evening hours required.

Requirements

• Minimum five (5) years of development experience, using a variety of cultivation and solicitation techniques.
• Digital literacy with experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, and internet research.
• Bachelor's degree in English, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications

• 5-7 years of documented success in sales and/or fundraising at the $10,000 level or higher, particularly with corporate partnerships and individual donors.
• Experience with Kansas City's philanthropic community.
• Experience with non-profit fundraising software (e.g., Raiser's Edge or equivalent).
• Knowledge of the food banking industry.
• Master's degree in Nonprofit Management or a related field.
