Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of Fleet Safety Managers across various locations.
- Provide direct leadership to extended-hours Safety Supervisors and Night Safety Managers, ensuring round‑the‑clock coverage of safety operations, coaching, and incident response.
- Oversee the development and implementation of fleet safety training programs.
- Ensure company-wide compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, state and federal laws, and internal policies.
- Analyze safety metrics and reports to assess performance and identify areas for improvement across all shifts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with safety initiatives and operational goals.
- Conduct in-depth investigations of major safety incidents, providing root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations.
- Support and enforce safety-related disciplinary actions and interventions as necessary.
- Provide expert guidance to leadership regarding best practices for fleet safety and risk management.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and safety technology advancements.
- Foster a proactive safety culture by driving continuous improvement in safety practices across all levels and shifts of the organizations.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in fleet safety management or a related field within the transportation industry.
- Deep knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs).
- Proven track record in safety policy enforcement and training program development.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with experience supervising multiple direct reports.
- Ability to analyze complex safety data and create actionable insights.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
- Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Preferred Qualifications: Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Director of Safety (CDS).
- Experience working in a multi-location fleet environment.
- Familiarity with accident investigation processes and reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management, transportation, or a related field.
