Senior Manager, Medicine Security (Medicine Access) - US

About the role

The Senior Manager, Medicine Security Programs – US will engage deeply with current and new US clinic partners to deliver and optimize gift-in-kind product donations, ensuring access to medicines aligns with both partner and patient needs. The role will develop and implement initiatives that strengthen and expand US partner capacity, driving innovative and high-impact approaches to improve sustainable access to essential medicines for the uninsured and underinsured in the US.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and day-to-day execution of the Medicine Security Program strategy across the US Medicines Security portfolio, ensuring alignment with organizational and Medicines Security priorities and US Program needs.
• Oversee US Medicine Security Programs’ portfolio-wide special projects or initiatives (e.g., technical assistance, supply chain resilience initiatives, and/or capacity strengthening efforts) that enhance sustainable medicine access and health outcomes in the US, including designing through implementation, evaluating, and scaling approaches or initiatives that expand US Medicine Security portfolio capacity and advance organizational learning.
• Oversee the US Medicine Security’s portfolio of US clinic partners and provide surge capacity (when required), ensuring direct report effectively manages routine partner engagement activities particularly related to GIK donations to US clinic partners, including:
  • Managing partner vetting and application approval process for new partners
  • Communicating requirements for partnership and program details
  • Ensuring compliance with program standards and requirements
  • Coordinating with logistics and distribution center teams and managing shipments or returns
• Proactively address risks, identify possible solutions, and explore opportunities to expand existing and future US clinic partner relationships, including conducting partner reviews, site visits, and structured assessments to drive retention, performance, and impact.
• Develop a robust and adaptable partner ecosystem by identifying and cultivating prospective new clinic partners to expand the US partner network, with a focus on diversifying partner types, geographies, and populations served.
• Utilize data, analytics, and other evidence-based methodologies to inform strategic decision-making and recommendations, assessing local/regional health priorities, medicine availability, supply chain performance, and portfolio strengths and gaps using integrated qualitative and quantitative approaches.
• Serve as a strategic thought partner and subject matter expert for US Medicine Security, advising on best practices and co-developing supply chain resilience projects and/or capacity-building initiatives to improve sustainable access to medicines; drive execution and implementation of agreed-to solutions for the US Medicine Security portfolio to achieve impact and scale.
• Lead US Medicine Security portfolio performance management, reporting, monitoring, and stakeholder communications, leveraging timely, accurate, and actionable data to enhance effectiveness, impact, and sustainability while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Coordinate cross-functional collaboration across different internal teams to maximize portfolio impact, ensure alignment, strengthen program implementation, and contribute to funding opportunities, including participating actively in cross-organizational planning, decision-making processes, or internal forums and working groups.
• Conduct regular field visits to existing or prospective US clinic partners to assess performance, strengthen relationships, identify opportunities for improvement or expansion, and provide technical support (as needed).
• Supervise and develop direct report, fostering a high-performance culture, supporting achievement of objectives, and promoting ongoing professional growth and leadership development.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen awareness and understanding of Medicine Security priorities, ensuring effective communication of US Medicine Security portfolio’s impact, lessons learned, and strategic objectives by producing high-quality written materials, including reports, case studies, strategy briefs, or facilitation tools.

Requirements

• US work authorization is required for this role.
• Candidates must be currently living in and will continue to live in one of the following states/territories: CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, MD, MA, NC, NJ, NY, OR, PA, Puerto Rico, TN, TX, VA, or WA.
• Minimum 5 years of experience leading program management or related experience.

Competencies

• Demonstrated ability to lead and oversee complex, multi-year, health-related initiatives, with strong preference for direct experience in medicine access initiatives, from planning through implementation, adaptation, and learning within dynamic environments.
• Proven experience identifying, cultivating, and formalizing partnerships with external organizations, such as national associations, US clinic partners, community organizations, or state/local agencies by establishing trust, negotiating terms of collaboration, and sustaining long-term relationships.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing direct reports by setting clear direction, driving accountability, coaching staff in times of ambiguity, and aligning resources and expectations to achieve strategic objectives and organizational goals.
• Ability to co-create and execute plans for growing and diversifying partnerships with US clinic partners or US-based health-focused nonprofits that seek to improve their access to medicines.
• Demonstrated understanding of pharmaceutical donations, product access, or in-kind supply chain models, with the ability to use data and qualitative insights to drive decision-making and demonstrate impact.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to produce clear, high-quality deliverables while adapting messages to diverse internal and external audiences to drive alignment and decision-making.
• Strong ability to manage concurrent activities and plans across multiple partners, with exceptional organizational skills to track milestones, dependencies, risks, staffing, and progress.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in medicine access or product access program implementation and management.
• Direct experience working with free and charitable clinics, federally qualified health clinics, or safety-net health systems, including familiarity with their operational constraints, patient populations, and medication access challenges.
• Experience engaging with state or federal health agencies, HRSA-funded programs, or government-adjacent health networks, with an ability to navigate public sector relationships and align programmatic work with regulatory or funding frameworks.
• Background in pharmacy operations, pharmaceutical supply chain, or clinical pharmacy—particularly in community or safety-net settings—providing credibility and technical fluency when advising clinic partners on medication access and supply chain optimization.
