About the Role
As a maintenance department leader, you will create strong partnerships across the business to ensure delivery of US Supply Chain strategies in line with our growth agenda. You will lead, coach, and develop Plant multi-functional teams to identify best practices and improvements that will increase Reliability, Productivity, Efficiency, and Effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Lead the entire Maintenance & Reliability (M&R) organization, ensuring uptime and equipment life across the plant, including manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facilities.
- Work cross-functionally to develop and implement a strategic M&R roadmap and annual operating plan for competitive advantage.
- Build, lead, and be accountable for M&R execution, reliability, facilities & utilities programs, and team capabilities.
- Establish strong governance to review and control the effectiveness of the M&R program and its contribution to plant goals.
- Ensure adherence to business continuity plans, manufacturing standards, GMP, food safety, employee safety, site security, and government regulations.
- Guarantee all employees and service providers understand and comply with site requirements through regular reviews and monitoring.
- Lead and coach the M&R organization in implementing and progressing the IL6S (Integrated Lean 6 Sigma) program.
- Establish a culture of zero losses and 100% employee engagement.
- Create and execute strategies to deliver zero breakdowns via preventive/predictive maintenance, technical mastery, TPM progression, visual controls, tools management, lubrication, and calibration.
- Systematically eradicate plant downtime and waste through a robust strategic plan.
- Champion strategic improvements on OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and other key performance metrics.
- Effectively manage the M&R budget, delivering annual targets and year-over-year operational savings through downtime/waste reduction and optimization of maintenance/facilities spend.
- Optimize capital budget through spare parts stock management.
- Develop the skillset of the M&R team at both technical and managerial levels.
- Support plant teams in reviewing and developing operating standards and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Identify and capitalize on plant improvement opportunities through capital projects, partnering with Engineering for flawless design and execution.
- Create and maintain a succession plan for the M&R organization, focusing on attracting, retaining, and developing critical talent.
- Role model servant leadership values and foster this culture across the site.
- Serve as a senior staff member in the plant leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and execution across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people agenda.
- Act as a liaison with external stakeholders to align on business priorities.
Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering; master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in Maintenance roles in the CPG industry, or a combination of Maintenance, Engineering, and Manufacturing, with at least 8+ years in leadership roles.
- Proven success in developing maintenance/reliability systems and teams, driving significant OEE improvements, and delivering substantial cost savings.
- Strong operational, manufacturing, and maintenance leadership experience in the CPG industry, with expertise in TPM, 5S, Lean, 6 Sigma, safety, and GMP standards.
- Engineering background with strong financial and business acumen, project management skills, and knowledge of industrial maintenance, manufacturing equipment, and PM (Progressive Maintenance).
- Experience with spare parts management, SAP systems (including PM module), and technology/engineering automation basics.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), coaching, and leadership skills in a team-based environment.
- Demonstrated abilities in analytics, problem-solving, and team building.
- Clear "big picture" awareness and hands-on leadership skills.
- Ability to empower, develop, and motivate people, with strong team-building and project management skills.
- Understanding of GMP, people and food safety standards, and regulations applicable to industrial maintenance.
- Transformational mindset with resilience, agility, and the ability to act as a change agent.
- Ability to engage with government authorities, professional associations, and academic institutions.
- Ability to interpret drawings, technical manuals, specifications, and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- TPM expertise and technology/automation proficiency.
- SAP Maintenance module proficiency.
- Record of capital project execution.
- Experience in both unionized and non-unionized environments.
