Senior Manager - Indirect Tax Technology & Transformation (TTT) - open locations
About the role
Join EY and help to build a better working world. As a Senior Manager, you'll continuously enhance your proficiencies in the design, promotion and delivery of major technology tools, including application development, data acquisition and transformation, and data analytics and visualization/reporting. You'll work side-by-side with tax-technical subject matter professionals (SMPs) to develop and deploy data and technology solutions that will enable our tax-technical SMPs to efficiently and effectively deliver quality tax consulting, with timely and responsive services and work products that meet and/or exceed client expectations.
Responsibilities
- Challenge the effectiveness of the tax technology strategy and approach for all engagements
- Develop or enhance proficiency in the use of major technology tools
- Drive overall deployment of technology services through active participation as part of pursuit and client service engagement teams
- Monitor penetration and performance of technology services and communicate to leadership
- Monitor competitive and client feedback and needs and communicate with leadership to develop appropriate responses, products, or communications
- Provide input into thought leadership
- Deliver high-quality work products within expected timeframes and on budget
- Manage and motivate client engagement teams with diverse skills and backgrounds
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and monitor them until completion, including documenting requirements, configuration, testing, debugging, project profitability, and tax systems and process configuration
- Identify ways to automate manual tasks using existing financial or tax systems and emerging technologies
- Ensure the architecture of solutions is aligned with the direction of the organization in terms of technology and business strategy
- Ensure compliance to the standards for solution architecture and integration of the relevant building blocks already available
- Define a robust architecture for building new applications and releases, leveraging and enhancing existing building blocks, or creating new reusable components
- Partner with others to gather all requirements to formulate the appropriate architecture required to provide system functionality, deciding when to advocate, and when to compromise, to arrive at a mutually acceptable solution
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in technology, information science, accounting, or finance and minimum of 7 years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 6 years of related work experience
- Approved technical certification, CPA license or membership to a state Bar
- Hands-on technical experience with deep expertise in architecting and delivering innovative, data-driven solutions using modern analytics and AI technologies
- Experience with developing solutions using Microsoft Azure, IBM watsonx, or Databricks stack
- A strong interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies and leveraging them to optimize and transform business processes
- Experience designing and developing scalable, high-performance databases, particularly using Microsoft SQL Server, to support robust analytics and data-driven decision-making
- Strong communication skills in managing executive stakeholders, framing value propositions, and influencing strategic decisions
- An ability to effectively communicate complex technology architecture clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership and clients
- Adaptive mindset allowing for responsiveness to evolving customer needs, market conditions, and technology trends
- Strong organization and time management skills, balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment
- Leadership experience with cross-functional project teams, mentoring less experienced personnel, and fostering a culture of high performance and innovation
- Implemented software development best practices and methodologies to ensure the delivery of quality, maintainable, and scalable solutions
- Ability to travel as required to support client engagements and foster strong, trust-based relationships

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $171,600 to $392,100. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $205,900 to $445,700. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
Pay
The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $171,600 to $392,100. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $205,900 to $445,700. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.
Schedule
Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
