About the Team and Role
We’re seeking an experienced and proven cross-functional Senior Manager to join our Talent Acquisition team. This role is pivotal in driving operational rigor, process improvement, and team development to scale a high-performing Talent Acquisition function. As the Senior Manager of Growth Strategy & Operations, you’ll act as both a diagnostician and builder—identifying gaps, designing solutions, and ensuring adoption across teams. You’ll strategically lead full-cycle recruiting for Carvana’s Operations teams, guide a recruiting team to meet high-volume hiring targets, and ensure the TA organization operates with consistency and continuous improvement at its core.

Work Location
This role is based at our Corporate HQ in Tempe, AZ, and requires on-site work 5 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Conduct ongoing assessments across Operations TA teams to identify process gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Design and implement scalable processes, playbooks, and best practices that raise the bar across all TA teams.
- Lead change management for new initiatives—building the case for change, securing buy-in, and driving adoption across teams that may be resistant or under-resourced.
- Guide the day-to-day full life-cycle recruiting efforts, strategy, and processes for Operations Recruiting.
- Lead a team of recruiting leaders to meet individual staffing goals through effective hiring, development, coaching, performance management, and engagement.
- Review and analyze data to identify trends; recommend solutions to improve recruiting effectiveness and increase the quality of talent hired.
- Collaborate with hiring managers and department leaders to anticipate and meet evolving hiring needs.
- Ensure a candidate-centric approach aligned with Carvana’s values.
- Partner with Talent Development, HR Operations, and Operations leadership to translate talent needs into quality candidates and new hires.
- Continuously innovate recruiting processes, including candidate experience, interview practices, funnel-building, reporting, quality of hire, and hiring manager experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited undergraduate institution (required).
- 7+ years of work experience in recruiting, strategy, consulting, operations, startups, or similar roles.
- 5+ years of experience in people leadership.
- Self-starter with an owner mentality—able to lead “first-time” assignments from initial question development to rollout without a predefined playbook.
- Proven ability to track, prioritize, and drive operations; known for getting things done.
- Strong analytical skills, with comfort leveraging AI tools to accelerate analysis, research, and problem-solving.
- Prior experience creating and implementing growth strategies and process improvements.
- Excellent collaboration skills and a cross-functional mindset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bias toward action—able to hustle and deliver results even when others have given up.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to see the big picture and operate with perspective.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or Master’s degree from an accredited graduate school or university.
- Experience in high-volume operations Talent Acquisition.
