This role acts as a recognized expert and trusted advisor to GBS and enterprise leadership, anticipating business challenges, informing portfolio strategy, and driving complex, cross-functional transformation initiatives with material enterprise impact.

The Portfolio Senior Manager operates with significant independence and senior-level judgment within a defined strategic framework, leading through influence rather than authority, and plays a critical role in advancing the maturity, credibility, and strategic impact of the GBS operating model globally.

Responsibilities

    • Partner with Global Process Owners (GPOs) on stabilization, transition readiness, operating model refinement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Ensure project charters, KPIs, benefits, and success criteria are clearly defined, measurable, and consistently applied.
    • Provide hands-on project management support as needed during critical phases or escalations.
  • Executive Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Serve as a key advisor to the Senior Director, GBS and the GBS Leadership Team, providing portfolio-level insight, analysis, and recommendations.

    • Drive alignment and transparency across global and regional stakeholders, navigating competing priorities in a matrixed environment.
    • Influence outcomes through expertise, credibility, and structured communication rather than formal authority.
  • Resource & Capacity Management

    • Maintain visibility into portfolio-level resource demand, capacity constraints, and prioritization needs across regions and functional towers.
    • Partner with functional leaders to support informed resourcing and sequencing decisions.
    • Provide recommendations to GBS leadership on staffing approaches, sequencing adjustments, or sourcing model considerations to manage risk and accelerate delivery.
  • Value Realization & Benefits Tracking

    • Lead the development and execution of the GBS benefits realization framework, ensuring consistent tracking of financial and operational outcomes.
    • Validate and monitor savings, productivity improvements, service enhancements, and risk reduction in partnership with Finance.
    • Partner with Finance to ensure benefits are integrated into budgets and forecast cycles.
  • Risk, Issue & Dependency Management

    • Identify portfolio-level risks, root causes, and cross-functional impacts.
    • Develop mitigation strategies and surface critical risks to leadership in a timely manner.
    • Set expectations for escalation discipline and governance rigor across the portfolio.
  • PMO Maturity & Capability Development

    • Lead efforts to mature the GBS PMO function, advancing consistency, capability, and effectiveness across regions and towers.
    • Coach and mentor program managers, project managers, and workstream leads to strengthen delivery capability and judgment.
    • Embed continuous improvement practices (Lean, root cause analysis, Kaizen) into portfolio and project execution.
    • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and operational excellence across the GBS organization.
