The Opportunity
As a dedicated Portfolio Manager Senior, you will support Function or Line of Business portfolios and ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, standards, controls, and regulations. You will partner with Executive Sponsors, business owners, and additional stakeholders to align work efforts with strategic objectives and manage budgets and benefits.
- Monitors, governs, and is accountable for low to moderately complex Function or Line of Business portfolios.
- Completes governance routines per the Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) Policy, Standards, and Procedures.
- Maintains oversight of a low to moderately complex portfolio on an ongoing basis, resolving issues and disseminating information to stakeholders.
What you'll do
- Facilitate the identification, management, and resolution of systemic cross-work risks and interdependency conflicts for work efforts and program deliverables.
- Leverage analytics to research and identify Financial Management risks and recommend solutions.
- Monitor for stale work efforts and propose resolutions, including termination if necessary.
- Support development and execution of Function or Line of Business planning in partnership with Enterprise Integrated Planning (EIP) and respective PMO.
- Prioritize work efforts to ensure portfolio alignment and delivery against strategic priorities.
- Communicate portfolio statuses and changes regularly with executive sponsors, program sponsors, business owners, and additional stakeholders.
- Review the health and performance of the portfolio, monitor its success using recognized methodologies, and identify performance improvement opportunities.
- Demonstrate the adoption and sustainment of changes within the organization in compliance with USAA's Change Management methodology.
- Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Education
- Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
Experiences that will support your success
- 6 years of progressive project, program, or portfolio management experience, including process improvement and/or consulting for large strategic efforts.
- Proficient understanding of project, program, and portfolio management principles.
- Experience with portfolio management and execution experience delivering complex work efforts using Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
- Currently possess at least one of the following certifications: Certified Project Manager (CPM), Lean Portfolio Management Certification, Project Management Professional (PMP), or gain one within 6 months of placement.
- Experience working in the property and casualty insurance industry.
- High learning agility and adaptability, with the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, highly dynamic environments characterized by frequent change, evolving priorities, and ambiguity.
- Strategic planning and portfolio management capabilities, including the ability to connect work efforts across multiple business domains, identify dependencies and tradeoffs, and align investment decisions to enterprise and line-of-business objectives.
- Proven experience partnering with executive leadership to facilitate portfolio planning, prioritization, and annual funding decisions, while synthesizing complex business, financial, and benefits data into actionable insights and decision-ready recommendations.
- Data-driven mindset with experience using financial, delivery, and performance metrics to inform portfolio prioritization, risk management, and executive decision-making.

Compensation
- Compensation range: $114,080.00 - $218,030.00.
- Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
