About the role

The Senior Manager, Data Operations & Governance will own the ingestion, integrity, and downstream usability of Compass Pathways' commercial data assets as we prepare for and execute launch. This role bridges external data partners and internal teams (analytics, forecasting, field operations) to ensure compliant, clean, and well-modeled data. The ideal candidate is technically opinionated, collaborative, and comfortable building pipelines, modeling data, and establishing governance practices from the ground up.

Location: Hybrid in New York City or remote on the East Coast (U.S.). Reports to: Associate Director, Commercial Analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Own intake and integration of commercial data sources, including specialty pharmacy, REMS, claims, and field/CRM data.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for data aggregators and external vendors; enforce SLAs and data quality standards.
  • Design and maintain data models, transformations, and consumption layers for downstream analytics, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Build and operate scalable, credential-safe data pipelines.
  • Establish and enforce data governance practices: lineage, definitions, access controls, audit trails, and change management.
  • Partner with Commercial Analytics, Forecasting, Field Operations, Market Access, and IT to align data products with consumer needs.
  • Support compliance with HIPAA, PDMA, aggregate spend, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Develop documentation, runbooks, and monitoring to ensure long-term data function sustainability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field (Master’s preferred but not required).
  • 6+ years of experience in data operations, analytics engineering, or commercial data management within pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare, with at least 2 years in a senior individual contributor or lead role.
  • Hands-on experience with specialty pharmacy data (preferred) or adjacent specialty data (claims, LDD, hub, REMS).
  • Working knowledge of SP data aggregation platforms; familiarity with Veeva software tools (Network, Nitro) is a plus.
  • Strong technical toolkit: advanced SQL, Python, dbt (or comparable transformation framework), and AWS/S3 or equivalent cloud infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to model data thoughtfully, with opinions on grain, naming, and structures that scale over time.
  • Comfortable in ambiguous, early-stage environments; able to push back on vendors/stakeholders without burning bridges.
  • Strong communication skills, including translating technical tradeoffs for non-technical leaders.

Pay

Base salary range: $135,000 – $185,000 USD per annum. Individual total compensation varies based on qualifications, skill level, competencies, and location. Package includes discretionary bonus and equity.

Benefits
