Senior Manager, Content
About the role
The Senior Manager, Content is a key role on the Communications & Content team within the Marketing & Communications department. Reporting to the Director, Content, this role supports fundraising, communications, and brand marketing efforts by executing BCRF's organic search strategy, translating strategic priorities into actionable content, and managing performance analytics. The role is central to producing high-performing content for donor acquisition, engagement, and revenue growth.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead fundraising content in partnership with digital fundraising agencies (development, optimization, measurement).
- Develop and optimize website, email, and educational content for donor acquisition and conversion.
- Connect high-performing research and educational content to fundraising pathways.
- Partner with Digital Fundraising to test and refine content approaches.
- Monitor and report on content-driven fundraising KPIs (traffic-to-donor conversion).
- Write and edit content about BCRF-supported research and breast cancer (including breaking news).
- Execute SEO and generative search optimization roadmap; manage external SEO vendors.
- Write, produce, update, and edit SEO-driven content.
- Track and report on SEO and website performance metrics.
- Produce regular performance readouts for leadership.
- Support Senior Social Media Manager as needed.
- Proofread, edit, and fact-check other content.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in journalism, English, scientific communications, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years as an assigning editor or writer at a news outlet, magazine, website, or in a nonprofit/editorial role.
- Required: SEO/LLM experience.
- Excellent writing, editing, fact-checking, and proofreading skills.
- Thorough research and analytical skills.
- Extremely detail-oriented with project management experience.
- Experience assigning content, providing feedback, and managing deadlines.
- Familiarity with AI-powered content tools and understanding of generative AI’s impact on content discovery.
- Ability to travel 1-2 times per year for conferences or events.
