About the role
The Senior Manager, Content supports fundraising, communications, and brand marketing efforts within the Marketing & Communications department. Reports to the Director, Content.
Responsibilities
- Lead fundraising content development in partnership with digital fundraising agency partners
- Develop and optimize website, email, and educational content for donor acquisition and conversion
- Identify opportunities to connect research/educational content to fundraising pathways
- Test and refine content approaches to improve engagement and donation performance
- Monitor and report on content-driven fundraising KPIs
- Write and edit content about BCRF-supported research and breast cancer news
- Execute SEO and generative search optimization roadmap; serve as point person for external SEO vendors
- Track and report on SEO and website performance metrics
- Produce regular performance readouts for leadership
- Produce timely content across digital and social platforms
- Evaluate and leverage AI-powered tools for content research, optimization, and workflow efficiency
- Stay current on generative AI and search behavior trends
- Support Senior Social Media Manager as needed
- Proofread, edit, and fact-check content
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in journalism, English, scientific communications, or related field
- Minimum 5 years' experience as assigning editor/writer at news outlet, magazine, website, or in editorial role at nonprofit, college, or similar
- SEO/LLM experience required
- Excellent writing, editing, fact-checking, and proofreading skills
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Detail-oriented with project management experience
- Ability to respond to breaking news and juggle multiple deadlines
- Ability to incorporate feedback from editors and non-editors
- Familiarity with AI-powered content, research, analytics, and SEO tools
- Ability to integrate AI-enabled workflows while maintaining editorial quality
Travel
May require travel 1-2 times per year for scientific conferences or BCRF events.
Compensation & Benefits
- Full-time exempt role
- Salary range: $80,000 – $90,000
- Benefits include: medical, dental, vision from day one; 401K with up to 5% match; paid parental leave (18 weeks for birthing parent, 12 weeks for non-birthing parent); paid time off (15 vacation days, 7 sick days, holidays, half days, summer Fridays); pre-tax commuter/FSA/HSA options
