About the Role
The Senior Manager, Business Analysis leads the Business Analysis track within the Informatics function, building and operating the enterprise Business Analyst practice. This role translates business and operational needs into structured, testable requirements for IT delivery, unifying Business Analysts from multiple organizational homes under shared methodology, standards, and leadership. The position ensures requirements quality is a consistent, measurable discipline across all IT workstreams and partners closely with Product, Clinical Informatics, and the Director of Informatics to align capacity with portfolio priorities.
Responsibilities
- Establishes and enforces business analysis methodology standards, including requirements elicitation, documentation templates, process modeling, user story quality, and traceability across all IT delivery workstreams.
- Unifies Business Analysts from previously separate organizations into a single practice with shared standards, tooling, working norms, and quality benchmarks.
- Builds and matures the Business Analyst practice, including hiring profiles, career frameworks, onboarding, development plans, and performance management.
- Partners with the Sr. Manager, Product to create a seamless requirements-to-delivery handoff, ensuring Business Analysts structure requirements and Product Owners translate them into prioritized delivery artifacts.
- Collaborates with the Sr. Manager, Clinical Informatics to ensure clinical and operational domain knowledge is accurately captured in requirements for clinical system workstreams.
- Supports the joint Acceptance-Criteria-to-Test-Case handoff standard with Quality Assurance, ensuring requirements are documented with precision for direct QA execution.
- Manages Business Analyst assignments across delivery workstreams (Software Development, Data & Analytics, IT Infrastructure), balancing capacity with portfolio priorities.
- Establishes quality benchmarks and review cadences for requirements artifacts; serves as the escalation point for requirements ambiguity or completeness disputes.
- Participates in intake, prioritization, and delivery ceremonies to embed business analysis in IT workflows.
- Develops and coaches Business Analysts on elicitation techniques, documentation precision, stakeholder management, and writing requirements consumable by Product, engineering, and QA teams.
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive business analysis experience, including at least 3 years in a people management or team lead capacity.
- Demonstrated experience establishing or maturing a Business Analyst practice, including methodology standards, documentation templates, quality benchmarks, and career frameworks.
- Deep familiarity with requirements methodology: elicitation techniques, user stories, acceptance criteria standards, process modeling, and definition of done frameworks.
- Proven ability to unify and lead teams from previously separate organizations with distinct working norms, tooling, and reporting histories.
- Experience partnering with Product, QA, and engineering functions to produce requirements that are both business-meaningful and technically executable.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills; comfortable engaging technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare, specialty pharmacy, or regulated industry experience, with exposure to clinical or operational data environments.
- IIBA certification (CBAP, CCBA) or equivalent business analysis certification.
- Familiarity with ASTQB/ISTQB concepts for reviewing acceptance criteria as executable QA test cases.
- Experience supporting data and analytics workstreams: data requirements, source-to-target mapping, or data product specifications.
- Experience with requirements and delivery tooling (Azure DevOps, Jira, Smartsheet, or equivalent).
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Work Environment
This role works in a professional home or office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
