Role Overview
The Senior Machine Maintenance Technician works closely with manufacturing, engineering, and operations teams to maximize the reliability, uptime, and performance of CNC machining and production equipment. This role serves as a technical leader within the maintenance organization by troubleshooting complex machine issues, mentoring junior technicians, and driving preventative and predictive maintenance initiatives.
What You’ll Do...
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Perform advanced industrial maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, fabrication, installation, and inspections on CNC machines and associated support equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control-related issues on CNC machining centers, lathes, and automated equipment
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventative and predictive maintenance activities on CNC equipment and facility support systems
- Troubleshoot machine alarms, spindle issues, axis faults, coolant systems, tool changers, lubrication systems, and peripheral equipment
- Absorb and assist in machine installations, equipment moves, machine leveling, and startup activities
- Manage maintenance ticketing systems and asset tracking systems to prioritize workload and maximize equipment uptime
- Collaborate with machine operators, manufacturing engineers, vendors, and management to communicate machine status and repair plans
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement efforts to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime
- Absorb and assist in building internal technical depth and troubleshooting capability to reduce dependency on OEM field service support
- Mentor and support junior maintenance technicians and help establish maintenance best practices
- Support overtime, off-shift, or weekend maintenance activities as required to support production needs
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed
You Have...
- A high school diploma or equivalent required
- Formal training in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, industrial maintenance, or a related skilled trade program (trade school, military, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, including experience supporting CNC equipment preferred
- Strong troubleshooting skills involving CNC equipment, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical assemblies
- Experience working with CNC machine tools such as DMG Mori, Makino, Haas, Okuma, Mazak, or similar equipment
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, ladder logic, and technical manuals
- Experience with compressed air systems, coolant systems, pumps, and industrial piping
- Proficiency using precision measuring tools, powered hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and alignment tools
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, hoists, cranes, pallet jacks, and other lifting equipment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
- Self-motivated and adaptable to changing priorities
- Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems (CMMS experience preferred)
- Ability to work overtime, off-shift, or weekends as needed to support production demands
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Nice to have...
- Advanced troubleshooting experience with multi-axis CNC machining centers and turning centers
- Experience with Fanuc, Siemens, Mazak, or Haas controls
- Experience troubleshooting servo systems, spindle systems, probes, tool setters, and automation interfaces
- Vibration analysis, lubrication analysis, or predictive maintenance experience
- Experience coordinating OEM service providers and contractors
- Welding and light fabrication experience
- Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Reliability, or Six Sigma training
- Experience in aerospace, defense, precision machining, or high-mix low-volume manufacturing environments
- Military aircraft, automotive, or industrial equipment technician background a plus
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms such as Limble or similar maintenance systems
