Responsibilities
- Prepare and update litigation hold notices, including follow-up to ensure that all holds have been issued and complied with in accordance with legal requirements for defined matters.
- Perform in-house training sessions and coordinate training sessions with litigation hold vendor.
- Utilize Microsoft Office 365 to prepare case set-up and custodian legal holds and work with IT for searches and data exports.
- Cover discovery responses and requests for defined matters, coordinate interviews and data collection with internal departments, and consult with outside counsel regarding discovery issues.
- Track and report all defined litigation matters and manage all defined litigation files.
- Maintain oversight and coordinate responses to various governmental investigations for defined matters.
- Support attorneys in legal operations and general management duties.
- Backup administrative support as needed on tracking of Services of Process and other litigation filings, ensuring timely handling by in-house or outside counsel.
- Backup administrative support as needed on answering emails and directing the same to the appropriate personnel and setting meetings.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Paralegal certificate required.
- A minimum of 5 years paralegal experience required, both law firm and in-house experience preferred.
- EMS, healthcare or managed care experience preferred.
Skills
- Microsoft Office and various legal software knowledge, including strong word processing/spreadsheet/database skills and proficiency with electronic and traditional discovery rules.
- In depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles; strongly desire in-depth knowledge of medical terminology.
- Professional with high integrity, able to inspire trust and confidence.
- Effective organizational and problem-solving skills to function in a fast-paced, growing, multi-subsidiary organization.
- Strong initiative and results oriented.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
