Senior-Level IC Trade, Sanctions and Customs Associate

About the role

Baker McKenzie seeks an associate attorney with 6 or more years' experience in US trade law, with a focus on US export controls, sanctions, customs, supply chain and broader trade and national security-related areas.

Responsibilities

• Advising on regulatory matters, including advisory work, compliance program reviews, cross-border transactional reviews and enforcement investigations
• Managing workstreams
• Supporting client relationships
• Collaborating with cross-practice teams across multiple jurisdictions

Qualifications

• 6 or more years' experience in US trade law, with a focus on US export controls, sanctions, customs, supply chain and broader trade and national security-related areas
• Experience advising on regulatory matters, including advisory work, compliance program reviews, cross-border transactional reviews and enforcement investigations
• Comfortable managing workstreams, supporting client relationships, and collaborating with cross-practice teams across multiple jurisdictions
• Proactive and comfortable working independently
• Strong academic credentials
• Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and writing skills
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to collaborate across teams and cultures
• Willingness to enhance skills using AI tools
• Major law firm experience strongly preferred
• Must be admitted and a member in good standing of the Illinois Bar or be eligible to waive in
