About the role

KPMG is seeking a Senior Associate to join their Trade and Customs practice. The ideal candidate will provide advice to clients in various industries on import and export matters, research U.S. and international import and export trade matters, explore, write, and review international trade advice, formulate ideas and deliver possible trade savings opportunities, aid in the development and training of team members, assist in the delivery of multiple client engagements on time and within budget, and maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice to clients in a variety of industries on import and export matters
  • Research U.S. and international import and export trade matters
  • Explore, write, and review international trade advice
  • Formulate ideas and deliver possible trade savings opportunities
  • Aid in the development and training of team members
  • Assist in the delivery of multiple client engagements on time and within budget; maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations and satisfaction

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of recent import/export experience in the field of trade and customs as a customs attorney, customs broker, U.S. Customs auditor, or import specialist, which will include experience in The Harmonized Tariff Schedule, customs federal regulations, NAFTA, entry processes, valuation, and informed compliance methods
  • Bachelor's degree, J.D., LL.M. in taxation, and/or Masters in Taxation (MST) from an accredited college/university; LCB or other relevant trade certification preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Access, Excel, and more
  • Demonstrated project management experience including effective interpersonal skills, good written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
