About the role
Neel-Schaffer is an Engineering News-Record Top 180 Design firm with offices in nine states, seeking a Senior Level CEI Inspector for their Chattanooga (TN) Office. This position involves skilled sub-professional engineering work in the field and office, acting as the Assistant Project Manager, performing inspections, representing the CEI presence on projects, and managing inspection duties.
Responsibilities
- Perform skilled sub-professional engineering work in the field and office.
- Act as the Assistant Project Manager under the supervision of the Project Engineer.
- Inspect individual construction phases.
- Represent the CEI presence on projects as the owner’s representative.
- Review and direct inspection duties of all project inspectors.
- Perform basic surveying tasks.
- Document inspection and management of a construction project through record keeping.
Requirements
- Five-plus years of experience in Construction Engineering and Inspection on road and/or bridge transportation construction projects.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills.
- The following certifications are preferred:
- TDOT Asphalt Roadway Technician
- TDOT Earthwork and Base Course Technician
- Nuclear Gauge Technician Certification
- TDOT Concrete Technician Level 1 & 2
- Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSCI)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Pass a background check.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
